Lightning isn't confined to thunderstorms. It has been seen in volcanic eruptions, extremely intense forest fires, surface nuclear detonations, heavy snowstorms, and in large hurricanes.
Fog Experiment
Supplies Needed:
Large Jar
Hot Water
Strainer
Ice Cubes(2 or 3)
1. Fill the jar with hot water.
2. Pour out some water until one inch is left.
3. Put the Strainer over mouth of jar and place ice cubes in it.
4. The cold air from the ice cubes will cause the water to condense.
REMEMBER:
1. If you hear thunder, head inside.
2. Avoid contact with phones.
3. Avoid contact with electrical equipment or cords. Including your computer or video game equipment.
4. Avoid contact with plumbing. Taking a shower should be avoided.
5. Stay inside until 30 minutes after the storm has passed. More about Lightning from NWS
REMEMBER: A certain amount of rainfall is expected over an extended period of time. We are said to be in a drought when the expected amount of precipitaion is not recieved over several months or longer.
